Dear Property Owner:
This is an informational letter informing you of proposed road construction on your road. The Benzie County Road Commission in cooperation with the Michigan Department of Transportation, and the Federal Highway Administration will be working on the above mentioned roads during the 2009 construction season. This work will include:
Cinder Road (CR-608) -will be detoured between Bendon Road and Reynolds Road due to guardrail replacement and reconstruction of the curve just west of Bendon. Thru traffic will be directed around the work area on St. Johns and Reynolds Road. However one lane will be passable at all times so that emergency vehicles and property owners have access. One tree will be removed. (Refer to Segment A on the attached map)
Pioneer Road (CR-677) – all work will be performed under flag control and includes trenching, paved shoulders, and guardrail replacement at two locations between King Road and Wallin Road. (Refer to Segment B on the attached map)
Weldon Road (CR-677)-all work will be performed under flag control and includes trenching, paved shoulders, and guardrail replacement at one location between King Road and Lindy Road. (Refer to Segment C on the attached map)
Currently, there are no scheduled beginning dates for this project. However, the bid letting date is scheduled for April 4, 2009 with a completion date of August 28, 2009.
As a rule of thumb if you have anything within 15 feet of the existing pavement edge it could be removed during construction. Mail boxes will be removed and reset by the contractor as needed during construction. If you have any questions regarding your trees, shrubs, landscaping, fences, etc. please feel free to contact me at (231) 325-3051 ext. 202 before May so that we can discuss your concerns prior to construction.
Sincerely,
Nancy A. Roseman, P.E.
County Highway Engineer / Assistant Manager
