M-22 Construction
Beginning on July 19, 2010 the Benzie County Road Commission will be performing an undercut on M-22 between Aral Road and the Leelanau County Line. This work will be done under lane closure using temporary traffic signals. Construction signing extends into Leelanau County. We anticiapte this work will be completed by July 30, 2010.
ARRA Projects Notice of Construction
Beginning on July 14, 2010 road work will be performed on Lake Michigan Road, River Road and North Manistee County Line Road. this work is being funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and involves chip sealing the road surface and replacing the road signs. The completion date for these projects is July 30, 2010.
The Chip Seal Operation is a three step process that involves sweeping the road surface prior to spraying a thin layer of asphalt emulsion on the road surface and application of stone chips followed by sweeping to remove loose stone chips. Any vehicle parked on the shoulder at the time that this work is being performed could be damaged by over spray of tar and stone chips.
Burnt Mill Road Notice of Construction
Beginning on July 19, 2010 the Benzie County Road Commission will be installing a 54 foot span bridge at the Burnt Mill Road crossing over the Platte River. This project is being completed in cooperation with the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians and the Conservation Resource Alliance. The project is being funded primarily with an EPA Grant.
We anticipate that the crossing will be impassable from July 19, 2010 until the end of August.
Mollineaux Road Relocation
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources Crystal Lake Boat Launch Project will be under construction later this summer. As part of that project the East end of Mollineaux Road at M-115 will be reconstructed. While that work is being performed that intersection will be impassable and all traffic will be detoured to the next Mollineaux Road Intersection to the West. We expect this work to take approximately two weeks (weather permitting) and anticipate that it may begin around the middle of August.
